SOB’s “Flight Night” hosted by Hot 97’s Hiphopmike perfectly puts spotlight on a newer generation of artists. Featuring Le’go Motif, Live Like Davis, Import Geez & more the line up perfectly showcases the diversity in today’s music. From heavy lyricists to melodic hitmakers, there was something for everyone in the crowd to enjoy.
The energetic duo of Moonroxxx and A-Homi started the night performing some unreleased tracks off of their latest project “Plug Moon”. Representing perfectly the younger generation of music the duo was able to capture the crowds attention. From their music selection to jumping in the crowd and signing along with fans the group showed that they were more than prepared to put on a show.
Quizz took the stage next delivering some impressive tracks like, “For Me”, “Different” and a few other bangers off of his latest offering titled Dog Food. When he took the stage it was clear that he brought a crowd out. Aside from bringing out a crowd he also shared the stage with Rico Benzo who shocked the crowd while performing his own tracks & also some collab tracks he has with Quizz.
Import Geez followed with a very lyrical performance tailored perfectly for the New York crowd. The Staten Island MC brought a unique sound to the stage performing his stand out track “Pardon My Attitude” & some older records as well. Even though he brought a different energy that we haven’t seen in Hiphop in a while from a young artist he was very well received by the crowd. Flaunting his lyrical abilities he was able to keep the crowd interested & engaged during his set start to finish.
Live Like Davis was also more representative of the younger generation. If you haven’t heard of Live Like Davis in the music scene you’ve most definitely seen him on your Instagram or twitter timeline. Starting as an Instagram personality Live pivoted into a successful recording artists. Having Hot 97 Dj HipHopMike in his corner as a manager and mentor he has been able to successfully transition from Instagram to music. We have seen this trend before but he is really delivering on it with millions of plays throughout all platforms and being able to perform all across the country. He performed hits like, “Wocky”, “Beyblade” & his “Panini” remix which are all getting love on the radio.
L’ego Motif was last to touch the stage with one of the most impressive sets of the night. With his debut album Flight Delay out now L’ego was looking to make a statement & he did just that. Bringing out HenCity & performing a number of tracks from his project, saving the best for last was definitely the idea. Performing his tracks, “Right Now”, “In Between” & “Above the Rim” L’ego showcases perfectly why he’s one of the hottest up and comers in the game right now. His style blends perfectly an RnB sound with Hiphop and none of his songs are quite the same which makes for a variety of different vibes for listeners.
I’ve been to a few shows at SOB’s and this was definitely one of my favorites. From the artists to the crowd the night was eventful & filled with some great music. At the end of each set I was able to speak with some of the artists briefly & all of them expressed gratitude for being able to share their art at such a well respected venue in the Hip Hop community. Check out some music from each artist below.
